THE DOT Therapy Advantage

The DEKA Smartxide DOT Laser has proven to be a breakthrough in skin resurfacing devices. DEKA Smartxide DOT (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) is a non-invasive laser therapy that dramatically improves skin texture and pigmentation, including the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars and sun damage. A breakthrough in laser technology, DOT is now offered at MenRegen.
With the DEKA Smartxide DOT Therapy, only a fraction of the skin receives the laser light. This is called “fractional skin resurfacing”. The laser utilizes a ‘dot’ pattern to create thousands of microscopic perforations in the skin while leaving the areas around each ‘dot’ intact. Very precise microbeams penetrate deeply below the epidermis selectively treating problem areas with pinpoint accuracy and without damaging the surface skin. Thousands of tiny dots/scanned pulses of laser energy are applied which promotes immediate skin tightening and new collagen growth. Wrinkles and fine lines, scars, and sun spots are dramatically decreased instantly. After treatment, the skin heals rapidly from the edge of these tiny ‘dots’ and silkly, soft new skin begins to emerge. The healthy cells in the untouched spots promote rapid healing of the entire treatment area, resulting in faster recovery time and minimal side effects.

Frequently Asked Questions about CO2 Laser Therapy

Is fractional CO2 laser safe?

In the past, full face resurfacing with a CO2 laser required weeks of recovery. With fractional technology, only small columns are ablated through the skin leaving uninjured skin in between from which wound healing can rapidly progress. The amount of laser energy and the density that the laser treatment is applied at can be adjusted to tailor each treatment to the desired goal. Fractional CO2 laser can be used safely on the face, neck, and most sun damaged skin including the eyelids.

How long does it take to recover from the fractional CO2 procedure?

After approximately four days you should be sufficiently healed to apply make-up. Complete healing and peeling may take 7 to 10 days, and redness might persist for several weeks. However, the laser energy and density can be adjusted to create mild laser peels from which you can recover in just 48 hours. The treatment can be truly customized for you!

Can I go to work after the fractional CO2 procedure?

After the fractional CO2 procedure, you are able to work and do all your normal activities, but you will generally not want to leave your house for a few days, as you will be very red and covered in ointment. It is best to schedule several days off to heal after the treatment.

Can fractional Co2 resurfacing be used on all skin types?

The DEKA SmartXide DOT and other fractional CO2 lasers are safest when used on lighter colored skin. It can be used on dark skin, especially for scarring, but the risks are greater that discoloration can result. Other technologies, such as microneedling, or non-ablative lasers, might be more appropriate for some skin types.

How long does it take to see results from fractional Co2 resurfacing?

Some results of fractional CO2 resurfacing are noticeable immediately once you heal from the procedure, such as improvement in surface irregularities and discoloration. The impact of fractional CO2 resurfacing on deeper wrinkles and scars takes several months to fully develop as the skin is stimulated to regenerate.

How many fractional CO2 laser treatments are required?

The number of fractional CO2 laser treatments required depends on the goals of the procedure. For treating surface irregularities, fine lines, and discoloration, one or two treatments will typically be sufficient. However, to treat scars or deep wrinkles three of four treatments are usually necessary, several months apart.

What are the potential side effects of a Deka SmartXide Dot® procedure?

Potential side effects following a SmartXide Dot® treatment are generally mild, but include burns or skin damage, scar formation, irregular pigmentation (hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation), milia (white bumps), and possible skin infections.

Is the staff at MenRegen adequately trained in fractional CO2 laser procedures such as DOT?

Steve Zakany, MD was the first physician or provider in Colorado to offer fractional CO2 laser treatments dating back to 2006 and was the original training physician for the Rocky Mountain region. He has performed well over a couple thousand treatments. The RNs at MenRegen are laser certified and have been personally trained by Dr. Zakany.

What is the average cost of a Deka SmartXide Dot® procedure?

Deka SmartXide Dot® facial treatments are $750.  Other areas of the body can be treated with the laser.  Price based on individual needs and determined at consultation.
***Special Promotion***  All facial treatments reduced to $600 through March, 2022.
